I’ve shared quite a lot about inclusive internal communication recently, but I’ve never defined what that means.

When Priya Bates, ABC, MC, SCMP, IABC Fellow and I wrote our book Building a Culture of Inclusivity, we were determined to craft a definition that described the outcome of inclusive internal communication.

We believe in inclusive internal communication:

“enables powerful connections, demonstrates curiosity and cultivates belonging through two-way engagement. This results in trusted, clear and effective communication, allowing people to thrive in their work and impact organizational performance.”

If you think about your culture at work, do you believe it’s inclusive? Is your equity, diversity and inclusion strategy aligned to your business strategy? And do you have a communications strategy that’s aligned to both? If you’re not sure where to start, message me, and we can have a chat.

Alternatively, if you want to find out more, you can complete our free, confidential assessment to determine how inclusive your organisation currently is. Once you’ve submitted your answers, you’ll be emailed your results directly with a summary of how to improve.

Or you can listen to our latest podcast episode with the brilliant folks responsible for the Global Diversity Equity Inclusion Benchmarks Standards. You can access the standards completely free of charge from their website.

And if you’re looking for something a bit more personalised, then Priya and I also offer various workshops on specific inclusive internal communication and employee experience topics.

I never want any comms, HR professionals or leaders to feel isolated or alone in this work. We have many resources available, so never feel like you can’t DM to ask.

Together, we’re much more powerful. Remember that.
